Meguro to Yutenji: three cheesecakes and a Korean dinner
Three of the cheesecakes Hanako wrote up, in three cafés between Meguro and Yutenji, and a Korean dinner to finish. A slow afternoon for two, most of it on foot.
Go Tuesday to Thursday: the first café closes Friday to Sunday and on holidays, the second on Mondays. The walk between the first two is long; take a taxi if it rains.

A kissaten that moved from Gakugei-daigaku to Komazawa and, in spring 2024, back to Gakugei-daigaku's east side. The baked cheesecake is cut against a ruler; with a blend coffee it is ¥1,400.

A café with its own cheese room, using milk from a farm in Kiyose, Tokyo. The rare cheesecake is fromage blanc with a shaving of cacioricotta on top, ¥660.

Korean home cooking, open since June 2026, three minutes from Yutenji station. BRUTUS singles out the wakame soup on a beef-bone stock taken over three days, ¥1,760. There is a ¥550 charge with a small starter; starters from ¥660, mains from ¥2,640.

On the wire this week
Sora Nakamura was born in Kanazawa, grew up between a fish market and a grandmother's kitchen, and spent her twenties cooking in Tokyo, Lyon and Melbourne before she put down the knife to write. Back in Tokyo since 2019, she keeps a spreadsheet of every place she has eaten at since 2011 and a bicycle she rides to most of them.
